I'm not sure...
I think I like the one with the faces, but this will sure make my commute more colorful!

Nicole Langille
It appeals to me more.

Listener
I think what I see here is much worse than just the plain white. Something soft and soothing is much more pleasing. If these designs don't promote road rage nothing will!!

Art All Around
I like the display from Catherine Callahan & Bret LeBeau, the Art tends to be more in tune with the South Portland area and the waterfront. It looks like an arial view of the docks.

Nicole Langille
I really like Nicole's design!
08/29/2008 7:51AM
??? what's this ???
Definitely the faces, they're so intriguing & much more thought-provoking than the other designs. An aerial view of them flying in on a plane would be SO cool!

I only like the first entry from the couple from So Portland. The reflections of local scenery are very picturesque. I don't care for the others.

Tank murals
Definitely Holger Friese's designs. Geometric patterns are fine, but they soon become just another "background". Boy! Wish I'd known about this so that I could have submitted my own designs!

I loved the broad horizontal stripes. A timeless statement to the landscape.

It's the best of the 5,but they all seem to lack imagination.
09/04/2008 12:31PM
Something totally different
Why not make them look like a stack of pancakes or a hamburger instead of abstract art?
09/04/2008 12:33PM
Organic yet retro
I love the feel of Bo and Sara's work. It feels happy in the same way when you see a bright, sunny day. A nice fresh organic feel with a touch of retro. I love this idea, no matter who wins. Peace!

Let's do something maine
I really do not like ant of them. Eack one is really an eye sore. better off leaving them white if this is all we have to choose from. Why not do something with a Maine theme. a tribute to the maine working women and men, seascape, landscape, antthing but these 5 choises.

tank murals
I think mountains and trees with a lake would blend in much prettier with the maine landscapes
09/06/2008 10:27PM
Nicole's is my pick
I love the colors and the smooth lines of the designs. They have the look of fine silk!
09/08/2008 1:37PM
Nicole Langville
I much prefer Nocole's design. It's smooth and fluid, and evokes an easy image to catch a glimpse of as you drive by. I dislike the others- too geometric or camo-y. Elaine Hodnett South Portland

Think Teen
These designs would look great in a museum, but not on the street why not hire some teens to paint them. At least we would see something original.

Where is the art?
Oh come on....this is the best Maine artist have to offer? Too bad it hadn't had more publicity so there could have been some real local flavor submitted. All of the designs leave me very un-impressed.
09/09/2008 4:40PM
Bret LeBleu
Love the colors...can you imagine how they will contrast against the winter snow...and then make a summer day feel so colorful and fresh!

They are all AWFUL!
09/10/2008 11:37AM
holger friese
his are absolutely the best ever..the others are rather uninteresting..his add dimension and interest..the faces by far, are the very best..such incredible talent! i hope he will win the contract..our landscape will be much more interesting than just graphic art which is very nice unto itself but this has much more substance! my vote is for him, definitely!

Face to Face
I Really Like the one with the faces. Its like a history listen on a large scale
09/11/2008 1:01PM
All of them
I dont like any of them! They don,t reflect the Maine experience or it,s people
09/12/2008 2:52PM
Bo and Sara
I vote for the last entry. My first thoughts were of lollipops and smiles, instead of oil tanks.

Nicoles captures a feeling for Portland. It wiould be a pleasure v to see this as I travel through the area. Jeanne

sir
I'll go with the all bad.
09/13/2008 11:58AM
None of the above
With these choices we miss a great opportunity to reflect Maine's mountains, woods, farms and seascape. Leave them white if these are the only options!
09/15/2008 4:29PM
Tank Designs
None of the above, they would be an eyesore !
09/16/2008 6:38AM
Go with a Maine theme
I don't like any of them. Go with a Maine theme. People would enjoy it more.
09/16/2008 10:56AM
home @ work
I'm siding with the person (listener), we need something more soothing. How about on the lines of the Boston gas tanks. A little splash of color.

All of them are way too busy!If I HAD to choose 1 it would be Bo & Sara's!
09/16/2008 3:12PM
Callahan / LeBleu
I like the idea of local artists.
09/17/2008 8:26AM
bad choices all around
it is a shame that all of the finalists have jarring geometric images rather than maine inspired natural ideas
09/17/2008 6:53PM
Callahan/LeBleu
I like the concept of the map

Where is the guy who painted the whales on the pier or do a tribute to 9/11 These are dull muted and just plain boring
09/19/2008 8:30PM
Don't know what you're looking at...
I think all of these designs are wonderful! My favorite is Holger Friese's, but they're all bright and interesting. I'm frankly tired of seeing lighthouses and trees everywhere. Yeah, this is Maine. We know. Let's spice it up! I love it. Keep it up!
